FMC Aquatic Swim Team

FMC Aquatic is a nonprofit, year-round competitive swim team established when two clubs — Ultimate Swimming and WEST Swim Club — merged on September 23, 2019. Our mission is to advance the sport of swimming throughout Illinois.

We provide professional coaching and swim instruction for athletes of all ages and abilities, with a strong emphasis on developing sound technique, lifelong skills, and personal excellence. We train at the premier FMC Natatorium in Westmont, Illinois — home of TYR Pro Swim Series, IHSA State Finals, and World Aquatics Swimming World Cup events.

Competitive Swim Team

Year-round USA Swimming club team running two seasons — short course (Sept–March) and long course (April–Aug). Athletes train in structured groups based on age and ability.

Learn to Swim (Lessons)

Group and private swim lessons for all ability levels. The FMC Learn to Swim Program teaches fundamental stroke technique and water safety for swimmers ages 4–12, plus self-rescue lessons for under 4.

FMC Fossil Fish (Masters)

Our USMS-affiliated Masters program welcomes USMS World and National Champions, former high school and college swimmers, IronMan Triathletes, and recreational lap swimmers alike.

Open Lap Swimming

Adult open lap swimming for members 16+ who know how to swim. Enjoy designated lap lanes in the world-class 50-meter or 25-yard pool during scheduled hours.

Aqua Fitness

Low-impact, high-energy water fitness classes for all levels. Great for cross-training, rehabilitation, or those looking for a refreshing full-body workout in the pool.

Stroke Clinics

Targeted technique sessions led by our expert coaching staff for swimmers looking to sharpen specific strokes, turns, and race strategy. Available to team members and community athletes.

Practice Groups

Our team is organized into 7 training groups matched to age, ability, and competitive goals. Each group has dedicated coaches and practices in our 50-meter or 25-yard pools.

Tryouts are required to ensure every swimmer is placed in the right environment for growth. We generally hold tryouts in early April and late July.

IHSA State Finals Host

The Illinois High School Association Boys and Girls Swimming and Diving State Finals are held annually at FMC in February and November.

FMC has hosted the TYR Pro Swim Series for 5+ years, showcasing many of the world's top swimmers on our Olympic competition pool.

World Aquatics World Cup 2025

In 2025, FMC welcomed the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup, bringing both national and international athletes from around the globe.

Open lap swimming, aqua fitness, group/private lessons, Masters program, stroke clinics, and diving — FMC is a true community aquatic destination.

Interested in joining FMC Aquatic? Athletes must complete a tryout to ensure placement in the right training group for their age and ability.

Submit an Interest Form

Fill out the FMC Aquatic Interest Form at fmcaquatic.com under the "Tryouts / Evaluations" tab. You'll be added to the email notification list.

Attend a Tryout

Tryouts are typically held in early April and late July. Coaches evaluate swimmers to determine the best group placement for success.

Once placed, complete team registration, obtain a USA Swimming membership, and register for your group's practice schedule.

FAQ

What is FMC Aquatic?
FMC Aquatic is a year-round competitive swim team and educational swim program. It was formed when Ultimate Swimming and WEST Swim Club merged on September 23, 2019. We operate out of FMC Natatorium in Westmont, IL.
What pools does FMC train in?
FMC Natatorium features a 9-lane, 50-meter Olympic pool (divisible into 25-yard configurations) and an 8-lane, 25-yard training pool used primarily for younger athletes and developmental groups.
How is the team organized?
Our team has 7 training groups: 10 & Under Prep, 10 & Under, 11-12 Red, 11-12 Blue, Senior Prep, Senior, and National Team. Placement is determined at tryouts based on age, ability, and coaching assessment.
When are tryouts held?
FMC Aquatic generally hosts tryouts in early April and late July. If a swimmer is not ready to join the competitive team, coaches will direct them to our Lesson Program to continue skill development before re-trying.
What are the swim seasons?
USA Swimming club teams run two seasons: Short Course (September–March, 25-yard pool) and Long Course (April–August, 50-meter pool). FMC competes in both seasons.
Do you offer swim lessons?
Yes! FMC Natatorium offers group and private lessons for all ability levels through the FMC Lesson Program. The Learn to Swim program serves ages 4–12 across 5 skill levels, and self-rescue lessons are available for children under 4.
Is there a program for adult swimmers?
Absolutely. FMC Fossil Fish is our Masters swimming program, open to former competitive swimmers, triathletes, and recreational lap swimmers of all abilities. We also offer open lap swimming for adults 16+.
